Our Roots
It all started with a country store and hogs.
In 1955, Ms. Eula Savoie of Opelousas found herself with a problem: what to do with all the hogs she was raising but couldn’t sell.
She had added the 187-acre farming operation a few years back to supplement the income from the small grocery store she owned with her husband. Thanks to a suggestion from her mother, Ms. Eula decided to butcher the hogs and turn them into Cajun dishes to sell in the store. Those dishes, based on her mother’s recipes, became the centerpiece of a multimillion-dollar Cajun food empire currently celebrating 60 years in business.

🥢 Savoie`s® Chicken Tasso Fried Rice
🛒 INGREDIENTS:
✅ Savoie’s® Chicken Tasso
✅ 3 cups cooked rice (jasmine works best, but white is good too!)
✅ 12oz mixed vegetables, fresh or frozen
✅ 1 tbsp garlic, minced
✅1 green onion, finely chopped
✅ 1/4 cup regular or light soy sauce
✅ 2 large eggs, beaten
✅ 2 tbsp vegetable oil or any neutral oil
✅ 1/2 tbsp sesame oil (optional)
🥣 INSTRUCTIONS:
Cook Tasso: In a large skillet or wok, cook the diced Savoie`s® Chicken Tasso until warm and browned. Set aside.
Sauté Veggies: Heat vegetable oil in the same pan over medium-high heat. Cook the mixed vegetables until soft, then add the minced garlic and combine.
Add Rice: Add the cooked rice to the skillet, pour in the soy sauce, and stir well to combine. Let cook for 2–3 minutes.
Scramble Eggs: Push the rice mixture to one side of the pan. Pour the beaten eggs and sesame oil into the open side, quickly stir-frying the eggs so they take shape.
Combine & Serve: Mix in the green onions and cooked Savoie`s® Chicken Tasso. Toss everything together until the rice is evenly golden brown. Remove from heat and serve hot! 🔥✨
